The Public International Law Department at Kuwait International Law School is dedicated to promoting excellence in teaching, research, and practice in international law. Our department offers a range of specialized courses within the LLM, Bachelor’s, and Diploma degree programs. In the Bachelor’s program, public international law is a mandatory course, ensuring that all students gain a foundational understanding of this critical area. LLM students, while following a structured curriculum, can choose to complete their thesis in international law under the broader public law framework, allowing them to specialize in this field. Additionally, the Diploma program includes courses that address international legal frameworks, such as human rights law.

The department actively engages in cutting-edge research in various fields of international law, often in collaboration with prominent global institutions. Our research initiatives focus on key topics such as international humanitarian law, climate change, and human rights.

Our faculty are recognized internationally for their contributions to legal scholarship, with their work appearing in top-tier journals worldwide, including the Harvard National Security Journal, Arab Law Quarterly, and the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law.

Our students and alumni consistently demonstrate excellence both within and outside the classroom. They participate actively in international moot court competitions, including the prestigious Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. and the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition in The Hague. These experiences allow students to sharpen their legal advocacy skills on the global stage.

Our students are also regularly engaged in debates on contemporary legal issues, helping them build a well-rounded skill set for public international law.
