The Inauguration of KILAW
Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, the Minister of Education and of Higher Education, visited KILAW for the official inauguration event held on the 28th of March 2013. The Minister was joined by the Chaiman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bader Al Khalifah, as well as the President and Dean of Kuwait International Law School Prof. Mohammad Al-Moqatei.
The ceremony began with the symbolic cutting of the ribbonand was followed by an opening speech from the Minister, which took place in KILAW's moot court. He stated that respecting the law is essential and is at the forefront of leading countries into higher development and towards a brighter future. He notied that Kuwait does not lack any written laws or regulations, but rather, suffers from the absence of a strong legal culture. He Clarifyed his argument by citing examples of Legal Obedience within Western communities that extends to each and every individual.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bader Al-Khalifah stated that KILAW premises is equipped with numerous facilities and additional services focused on assisting students achieve their academic excellence. In addition, he mentioned the Legal Research Centre explaining its aims of funding and supporting legal researches and providing a special legal training. He aspires to have KILAW become one of the supporting pillars that the Ministry of Education and the State of Kuwait by providing academic excellence and legal advice in both Arabic and English.
The President and Dean, Prof. Mohammad Al-Moqatei concluded the ceremony with positive figureshighlighting KILAW's successful start, with the inaugurating class starting in January, 2011 reaching a total of 952 enrolled students in the Bachelor’s Degree Program.
